The Blue House — Where Memory Lives
Story
Some houses remain with us long after we leave them.
Where the Blue Remained is not a portrait of one particular home. It is a reflection on the places that become part of us—the family house, the village left behind, the view remembered differently each time.
The blue begins within the architecture but gradually escapes its walls, dissolving into the surrounding paper. Like memory, it becomes less precise without disappearing.
Art
The work uses watercolour, granulated pigment and generous negative space to create a balance between presence and absence.
Cobalt, indigo and Atlantic blue give the house its emotional weight. Stone, earth and warm ivory soften the composition and allow the paper to remain visible.
The unfinished edges are intentional. The house is not isolated from the memory around it; both become part of the same image.
The discreet Sabino Pereira signature is integrated into the lower texture rather than placed above the artwork as a separate graphic element.
People
This work is for those who understand home as more than an address.
It may speak to people who grew up near the sea, live far from where they began, remember a family home, or recognise in blue something connected to Portuguese and Atlantic identity.
Its presence is quiet: it brings calm, belonging and a sense of origin without becoming nostalgic or overly literal.
Space
The vertical composition works best. It preserves the intimacy of the façade, gives the house architectural presence and makes the surrounding negative space feel intentional.
It would work particularly well in:
- Bedrooms and quiet living spaces
- Reading corners
- Homes with natural materials
- Coastal houses and guest houses
- Boutique hotels
- Restaurant or hospitality spaces built around place and memory
- Calm reception areas
Short product description
